Some pictures of Nantasket Beach on Memorial Day weekend 2006, taken with a 1986 perspective.

This is pretty much all that hasn't changed on Nantasket. Of course, I never really came here for the beach,
so I could be wrong. |

If there was a rollercoaster here, you would be happy by now. The last time before now that I was at
Nantasket Beach, this piece of crap was going up: a classic piece of late 80s faux brick pseudo-luxury. If memory serves me right,
this is where the amusement park used to be. |
 |
This is basically what is left of what I can recognize of Nantasket Beach from my youth, at least the things that I associated with
it. This is all about 50 yards down from the crap condos. |

This is the Playland Penny Arcarde. I can't say how old or authentic it is, as it was closed... which didn't strike me as a good
sign. Fascination, the smaller bit on the right was open. When I think "Fascination" I think of the David Bowie song, not a dingy
little gaming room populated by a dozen or so pentioners and generally worn out looking people playing some BINGO-like game. |

The Dream Machine was open. It was mainly games like Skeeball and other skill/chance games that you can win tickets to exchange
for valuable prizes. A few big video games were there as well. I remember way way back when I was a kid going to a "Dream Machine" in a
mall around Worcester... I wonder if they are related. I also wonder what those kids were saying about my bike. I also wondered WTF the
menu was for Ricky's nextdoor... not finding it seemed a good sign to me that I should avoid the food. |
